Four for Friday
Q1 - Halloween: Did trick-or-treaters come to your house this year? If so, approximately how many came by? Was this year's number higher or lower than you've had in previous years, and what did you give them?
We had about 50 visitors, approximately, probably about the same as last year. We gave out red licorice, Jolly Rancher sticks, and chocolates shaped like body parts (ears, eyes, fingers).
Q2 - Allergies: Do you have allergies? If so, what are you allergic to? If you're not allergic to anything, is there anything you wish you were allergic to?
I'm allergic to cats, dogs, mold, dust mites, cigarette smoke, grass (especially the stuff that sprouts in June), and corn pollen. I've gotten shots for about 8 years now, but I'm nearly done. Why on earth would anyway choose to be allergic to something? That's just insane.
Q3 - Organic Food: The organic food market in the United States is projected to reach a value of $30.7 billion by the year 2007. According to one recent report, close to 40 percent of the U.S. population now uses organic products on a daily basis. Are you included in that 40 percent figure... do you intentionally buy organic foods or drinks? If so, what are you buying? If not, why?
I don't seek out organic food. I've noticed they sell it at the grocery store, but I buy whatever I need, fast and cheap, and leave. It's just not an area I feel like getting worked up about; since I grew up near a nuclear weapons facility and Cheyenne Mountain, it sort of cured me of worrying about faint possibilities of threats from unwashed, pesticide-laced foods. One can only take so much panic, y'know.
Q4 - Television: Which TV shows from the past would you like to see back on television and why?
None. Television has always been pretty crappy. Most everything I liked as a kid is back on cable somewhere, from "Match Game" to "I Dream of Jeannie." About the only thing that doesn't seem to be reverting is the variety show thing, like Ed Sullivan or even Sonny & Cher. But I probably wouldn't watch a "Jessica & Nick" show anyway.
Friday Fiver
1. What is your shoe size?
Elephant feet: 9.5 women's
2. How many hours did you sleep last night?
Probably close to 7 hours, interrupted once by sore throat/drainage, and a need for the bathroom.
3. Area code of your phone number:
But that would give it all away. Growing up, the area code was 303
4. Last grade of school completed:
Er...seventeenth-and-a-halfth? College plus 18 months of grad school.
5. Time it takes you to get ready in the morning:
This morning, 15 minutes start to finish. If I shower, and plan to leave the house (i.e., styled hair, perfume, clothes beyond jeans/Tshirt, etc.), figure 40 minutes if I'm rushed, 60 if I have time to eat breakfast.
?otd
Who is your favorite tv character detective?
I'm biased toward CSI...Grissom? Katherine? Sarah?
I also always liked Quincy, M.E.
Are you sensing a theme here?
