Booked by Three

Old stuff from Shelly...

1. Do you use bookmarks? (If no, continue to question 2.)
What do you use? I have about 30 "official bookmarks, kept in a drawer in my nightstand. Unfortunately, I mostly use envelopes, brochures, paint chips, and other detritus instead of Actual Bookmarks.
What is the most unusual bookmark you've ever used? I've been known to use cordless phones, curling irons, and my brush on a regular basis to hold my spot.
Do you collect them? Only in the sense I get them and then I can't seem to throw them away. I'm currently using a Garfield the Cat bookmark I've had for 25 years!

2. If you don't use bookmarks, how do you keep your place?
Fold over corners? Shhh! I have been known to do this, but not often, and not recently (and not anyone else's books, only my own).
Remember the page you were up to? When I was young and had nothing else to keep track of I did this, sometimes. It didn't always work though.
Other? I tend to flip books over and leave them facedown on the couch, the floor, the table, etc. Bad for their spines, but oh well.

3. Where do you like to stop reading? I rarely get the opportunity to choose where I stop....
At the end of chapters? This would be my preferred choice, most of the time, except in mysteries that end chapters in cliffhangers. If that's the case, I read till whatever-it-is is resolved. See next.
At the end of scenes? Yes, in mysteries and in books that don't have shortish chapters. I look for that tell-tale triple space in the text.
Wherever you are when you doze off? YES. This is the most likely thing. I actually whacked myself in the face with a book Saturday night when my arms relaxed as I dozed off. Then, of course, I was awake for another 10 minutes out of embarrassment and [slight] pain.
