20 questions

...from Shelly, whom I'm beginning to think I should pay for giving me all these good ones! :-)

1. What is the furthest you've ever travelled? In one step, probably Omsk to Irkutsk, or Denver to London. As a full trip, Chicago to Beijing via Moscow and several points in between, and back.
2. Which meal is the one you cook best? Home-made mac n cheese. With my mom's recipe, or my sister's 'gourmet' one (with 4 kinds of cheese). I do a pretty good Thanksgiving feast too, and beef fondue.
3. Where do you buy most of your clothes? It's not so much 'where' as 'when:' on sale. I like Coldwater Creek and Kohl's.
4. What is your home town famous for? My hometown is famous for Rocky Mountain Oysters. ;-)
My current workplace (which is not where I live) is famous for a woodchuck movie. And for Dick Tracy.
5. What was your best subject at school? Social Studies/History. English. I was a pretty good student, only doing less well in science than in other subjects.
6. What sort of music would you never listen to? Like Shelly I can pass on the current crop of hiphop 'artists' and I'm not overly fond of opera (although surprisingly, that's starting to change). Also I don't like Mariah Carey's oeuvre, or Rush. Anything else I'll at least give a try.
7. Is there anything you would never eat?
Caviar.
Bugs.
Beef tartare.
Food that is too spicy. Sad but true; I'd probably be fine eating it, but it wreaks havoc with my digestion.
8. How many languages can you speak? I'm laughing at Shelly's: "I barely speak English (that's a joke)." So yeah, I'm occasionally coherent in English and have a minor in Spanish. I can read some Russian and can struggle through translating some German and French and Italian, but I don't think that counts.
9. Which sport do you like playing or watching the most?
I like to play volleyball and tennis (although I'm so out of shape it would probably be painful to watch (and do).
I LOVE watching football. Baseball? boooo....
10. Can you play a musical instrument? Which one(s)? Played flute for 8 years (jr. hi till college) and took piano lessons for a few years as a child.
11. What is the worst illness/injury you've ever had?
Illness: I had "walking pneumonia" as a child (in 1975ish, because Ford was president...don't ask).
Injury: none, except for surgery and childbirth in the '90s.
12. Which blogging tool do you prefer? Blogger
13. What was the last charity you gave to? My church. Food for the Hungry. Heifer Project. Depends on when the bills were paid....
14. How many romantic relationships have you had? Wow, this is a loaded question. Relationships--depends on your definition... I'd say three.
15. Where was the last restaurant you visited? Ate at Chilis with Sparky on Monday night.
16. Have you ever seen a band live? Which one? Yes, jeez, even I'm not that out of it! Last one was Elton John/Billy Joel last year (two years ago??). I'm going to U2 this spring.
17. Which famous person would you like to meet? Why?
This changes daily. To shake hands with: Hillary Clinton. To talk to: Sandra Bullock, or Gloria Steinem.
Why? For inspiration.
18. Have you ever been on television? When I marched in the Tournament of Roses parade, although it wasn't exactly a close-up. Otherwise, I stay far from TV cameras.
19. Have you ever stayed overnight in hospital? Yes. One visit was for childbirth, the other for surgery.
20. What is your ultimate ambition?
Travel, travel, travel; see everything.
Be a good grandma.
Be the person I was meant to be.
