Patrick's Place

(Link in meme-roll)

1. How many different spices are there in your kitchen?
I'm a little low on some of them right now, but if we combine the spices, herbs and flavorings, I've probably got about 50. (No, I didn't go count!)
2. Of the spices you have on hand, which one is your favorite one to use?
I use a lot of black pepper. When I'm actually cooking, I use oregano a lot. And rosemary. Sorry, those aren't technically spices, but they're in my spice rack.
3. What liquid flavoring did you use most recently?
Uhm? I guess...vanilla...by default. I haven't used anything like that in eons. I stopped baking years ago when I realized I was eating most of what I made, and who needs that?!
4. You decide to marinade a steak or chicken: do you use a powdered or liquid spice mix?
I make my own, usually liquid, out of whatever's in the fridge and cupboard: Coke, soy sauce, worcestershire sauce, etc.
5. Take the quiz: What Spice Are You?
When I did this a couple of years ago, I was "cilantro" (which is an herb, not a spice, but anyway...), but today's result is:
You Are Basil
You are quite popular and loved by post people.

You have a mild temperament, but your style is definitely distinctive.

You are sweet, attractive, and you often smell good.
Also, technically an herb. Also technically not very accurate, IMO. Except I do try to smell good most days. ;-)
6. Which spice — whether you have it in your home or not — do you consider the most “exotic”?
Gotta be saffron. At about $25/oz. it's a little out of my range, but I hear that it's absolutely worth it. Someday, I will try it.
