Friday Fill-Ins

(Link in blogroll)
Fill in the lyrics...with the correct ones or ones of your own :-) [If I know the lyrics, I've *d the question.]

* 1. Said the night wind to the little lamb, "Baaaaaah! What are you doing up so late? Go to bed .
* 2. The first Noel, the angel did say, "There is no water cuz there is noel." [old joke in our family].
* 3. Shopping for presents , Over the hills and everywhere.
*4. It came upon the midnight clear, the realization that I left someone off the shopping list.
85. Have some Prozac, Let your heart be light.
6. And the thing that will make them ring is the carol that you sing
as they cart you away in March.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to
doing nothing at all, tomorrow my plans include delivering gifts to low-income families (see below), and Sunday, I want to stop by work and get the orders sorted out. My 'net connection to work is fubar!

Our town does a really terrific thing every year. A list is compiled of all the families living under the poverty level--I have NO IDEA how this list is compiled; it's magic! The list includes each family member and the ages of the children. Donations are solicited from businesses and individuals throughout November, and probably over the rest of the year. The week before Christmas, a long assembly line is laid out in a large empty room (the inside of a former Lowes-type store) and volunteers line up, are assigned an anonymous family for whom they fill a Santa sack with appropriately-aged toys and books for kids. All of these Santa sacks are sorted and prepared for delivery. Tomorrow--the Saturday before Christmas--the sacks and large boxes of food for Christmas dinner are loaded into the long line of vehicles that spends the morning ferrying all this stuff out to the no-longer-anonymous families around town. It's wonderful, heartbreaking, humbling, and just plain fun.
