Another 40

(found here)

1. What color is the floor in your room? This is not a good sign...when I'm annoyed by the first question...most of the floors in the house are wood laminate or carpet, some tile...you know, a bit of everything.

2. Where do you usually get your hair cut? HQ

3. What do you think of guys that wear tight pants? If the guy is skinny/well-built, and if the pants FIT, I'm ok with it. If they're just too small, yuck.

4. What's your doctor's name? Which one? I have several. Let's go with Dr. Patel. (track me down from that, yo)

5. What's your favorite internet slang word? OMG. Or LOL.

6. Do you have a ceiling fan in your room? There are 5 in our house, including one in each bedroom.

7. Do you know how to swim? Nope.

8. Have you ever been to Oregon? Not yet.

9. Ever experienced jet lag? Yes. Oh yes, bigtime. I spent a full-month jet-lagged and overserved.

10. What's the last show/concert you went to? ...why can I never remember the name of the bands...? It was a Christian rock thing last spring.

11. What color are the chalkboards at your school? I'm not in school, but we do have several white dry-erase boards at work.

12. What was the funniest thing that happened today? Does telling someone with strep that it was ok not to be at work count?

13. What are you listening to? I'm watching taped Oscar Red Carpet coverage in tandem with Untold Stories from the ER.

14. What was the title of the last story you wrote? Huh. Pass. Next:

15. What about the title of the last song you wrote? Have never titled a song....

16. What was it about? It was lyric-free, and whistled.

17. What was the last thing you argued with someone about? Um...haven't for several days. Can't remember. Must not have been that big a deal. The last one I actually remember is the usual insane "tone of voice" argument.

18. How are you feeling today? This is surreal; I did something funky to my foot at work today. And the previous answer on this question: "Fine, thanks. Other than my motherfucking foot aching like hell, fine." So...ditto.

19. Who do you hate right now? My forgiveness of Josef Stalin has not arrived yet. [I don't really hate anyone, though I'm terminally annoyed with several people.]

20. What color pen ink do you like best? Non-splotchy. Whatever--I'm easy.

21. What are you doing tomorrow? Taking Sparky to Sunday School, then heading over to order new lenses and get our glasses straightened, probably stopping at FIL's to answer a computer question for him.

22. Have you ever rode a horse? AWESOME grammar! Yes, I have rode me a horse.

23. Do you know anyone named 'Brianna'? I do. She's 3 and her parents said she "can do whatever" she wants, as she told me two weeks ago at church. heh

24. What would you like to tell someone now? "Try, try, try, to find a spark of joy every day and hold tight to it. Complaining without doing something about things isn't working--have you noticed?"

25. Have you ever seriously considered suicide? Uh... define "seriously."

26. What's your favorite chocolate bar? Butterfinger.

27. What other windows do you have open? It's winter! Oh, wait, ok, I've got tabs for Facebook, Twitter and Gmail open besides Blogger.

28. Who was the last person you talked to online? Sparky. Physically, we were 7 feet apart at the time. ;-)

29. Is there anything you're looking forward to? Mission trip.

30. What do you think of guys that wear eyeliner? I try hard NOT to think about them, but really, I don't care. Too much eyeliner on boys OR girls is a terribly ugly sight.

31. How do you act around the guy you like? I don't. Act, that is.

32. Do you collect lamps? WTF--NO!

33. What's your favorite sport to watch? Football.

34. What movie theater do you usually go to? Uh...the last three movies I've seen (over two years) have been at three different theaters....

35. Do you trust people easily? Sometimes, about some things.

36. What do you think of the person who posted this before you? I don't know her.

37. What brand are the pants you're wearing? Lee Jeans. Yes, I wore jeans to work today.

38. What are you serious about, but no one believes you? Sleep.

39. What was your dream about last night? No clue. I'm sure it involved the mission trip. I can't stop the anxiety dreams.

40. What was the last thing you wished on a star about? Again stealing from the person before me: "I don't."

Coffee-drinkin', Factual, Ectomorphic and Dynamic Actress

You Are Coffee
You are highly ambitious and goal oriented. You feel like there isn't enough time in your day to get it all done.

You are outgoing and creative. You love talking with people, thinking up crazy plans, and then acting immediately on them.

When it comes to caffeine, you'd like a refill. You can almost always use an energy boost.

Life is too short.
You're going to get as much out of it as you can. You live for today.
I do not like anything about coffee except the scent. Otherwise, this isn't too inaccurate.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
You Are Factual
You are highly intelligent, especially in areas that deal with concrete knowledge and facts.

You are
amazingly analytical. You can make sense of chaos without involving your emotions.

If anything, you tend to be overly logical. It's sometimes hard for you to come to a decision, because you're too busy weighing all the options.

People turn to you in times of trouble. They know that they can trust you to give good, well thought out advice.
Mmmm, ok.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

You Are an Ectomorph
You are thin and lean. You don't put on weight easily. [This used to be very true!]

Ectomorphs are known for being private, introverted, and brilliant.

It's likely that you are introspective, philosophical, and even artistic.

Other people tend to make you a bit tense, but being alone is both inspiring and comforting.
Maybe I'm not really meant to be skinny....

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
You Crave a Dynamic Life
Your dream is to live a life where you are constantly learning and evolving.

You believe that the world, people, and life are incredibly fascinating.

You want to use your mind as much as possible. You want to dare yourself to do what's difficult.

You'd like to expand your worldview and maybe even solve some of the world's problems.

At first glance, I snorted, but after reading the description it totally fits. So, oh well.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
You Would Win Best Actor / Actress
You are confident and talented. When it's time for you to shine, you step up.

You have a strong personality. You love attention
, and you can command an audience of any size.

You tend to be a bit obsessive. You're the perfect person to immerse yourself in a big role.

You're both empathetic and expressive. You understand and communicate well.
I'm such a good actress that I fake all of the non-italicized bits really well. But I would never pursue acting as a profession.

1. When you write a note to a friend, do you tend to write in cursive or manuscript?
Is manuscript the same as printing? I actually vary how I write within words at times, but generally I use cursive for 'serious' things, but print if I'm going for clarity (like at work in the books, or to make sure a person's name is spelled right in a note).
2. Think back to grade school when you learned how to write: which manuscript letter gave you the most trouble?
I think I learned to print early enough that I don't remember any of them being more difficult than another. I suppose the S would have been hard. I always had issues with anything not involving a straight line.
3. Did you find cursive easier than manuscript?
No, but that may be because I can remember learning to write cursive. Those Gs and Qs...I still hate the "Palmer method" way of doing them! I quit the Q by the time I was in junior high, in fact, and have never gone back. It's a #2 for Pete's sake, not a letter! lol
4. How do you type on a computer: the four-fonger [sic] "professional" method, the "hunt and peck" method, or something in between?
I took typing in high school; my parents required it of all their kids. So I use the "home row/four-finger" method, except in terms of numbers and shifting and spacing.
5. Take the quiz: What’s Keyboard Key Are You?
Amusingly, I was "Esc" when I did this last month. Quite appropriate for the winter!
6. As a general rule, how often do you use the key mentioned in the answer to the previous question?
Almost never. Like twice a week at most, and usually only combined with Ctl & Alt.

Alert the Media!

Your Valentine's Day Personality is Practical
As far as you're concerned, Valentine's Day is simply a commercial holiday.

You don't place any real meaning on it. You don't think it deserves too much celebration.

For you, Valentine's Day is just the day you avoid restaurants and candy stores.

If you love someone, you already show it. You don't need to go all out for a silly holiday to prove your love.
ExACTly. So not the romantic.

But the flowers were nice. Are nice. ;-)

The Q & A Meme

1. where is your significant other? If I'm at south on a compass, he's about northwest, about 10 feet away. We're watching the Daytona 500.

2. your favorite thing? Sleep. I can't wait for winter to end, so I can (I hope) stop saying that!

3. your dream last night? Weird. I remember yesterday morning's better: I was at the wedding of a former employee, acting as a bridesmaid and I was late, but I was helping the bride...oh it was weird. Also, she's already married.

4. your goal? I don't do goals.

5. your hobby? This.

6. where do you want to be in 6 years? In six years, Sparky will be 3 months from college graduation. I'd like to know how the financing will be paid back. I'd like him to have a job lined up, or at least a plan. And I'd like to be traveling more.

7. where were you last night? Here.

8. what you're not? As skinny as I used to be.

9. one of your wish list items? New sofa.

10. your pet? I have none. There are guinea pigs in the house, but they technically belong to Sparky. I'm allergic to animals. gah

11. missing someone? Perpetually. If it's not one person, it's another.

12. your car? Still is a truck.

13. something you're not wearing? A thong. And the world is a much better place because of that.

14. love someone? No. I hate everyone. sigh Please, God, don't EVER let me meet someone who seriously means it when they say 'no' to this question.

15. when is the last time you laughed? I laughed a lot in the nursery this morning.

16. last time you cried? Been awhile. This is quite unusual.

17. favorite past time? My favorite "past time" was probably when I was preschool-aged. My favorite "pasttime" is reading.

18. are you a hater or a lover? Mostly the latter. There are a couple of people in my life I probably would have enjoyed seeing tortured. I used to say that I would have wished to die, and then one did unexpectedly, so imagine THAT guilt! [no, I had nothing to do with it]

19. any vices? Pissing people off seems to be the one of choice lately. Being pissed off in return, as well.

20. favorite meme other than Sunday Stealing? Toss up between mine (Curious as a Cat) and Unconscious Mutterings. That one has been around as long as I've been blogging while others have come and gone.

Saturday 6

1. Do you usually feel as though you get more sleep than you need, less sleep than you need or just enough?
In the winter, I never ever feel like I'm getting enough rest. I think I could sleep 12-14 hours and still feel tired. Summer's are better. I probably get just enough, because when I'm getting too much I compensate by developing insomnia.
2. What was the last movie you fell asleep while watching out of sheer boredom?
I don't think I ever have done this, but Star Wars--ANY Star Wars movie--now evinces a strong snore reflex.
3. Did you try watching a second time to make it all the way through? If so, was it worth the extra screening?
I live with a SW freak, so I've seen all these movies innumerable times. I've reached the point where I just can't be in the room with them. The acting--OMG, execrable! The writing--WORSE!
4. Does exercise tend to make you feel like you have more energy or less?
Eventually, more. When first beginning, though, I feel like a train hit me.
5. Take the quiz: What’s Your Energy Level?
It's low. I didn't need to take the quiz to find out, and I was right when I did.
6. What’s the latest in the day that you can drink a caffeinated drink without it affecting your sleep?
I generally drink Dr. Pepper right up till bedtime, almost every night. Crazy? Yeah.

Blurt of Blogthings

You Are Caramel deLites / Samosas
You are blessed with a brilliant, dynamic mind. It's sometimes hard to figure out what your focus should be.

You're the type of person who does almost everything well. You are very competent but also unfocused.

You're not an easy person to pin down. You are vibrantly complex.

You have many facets to your personality, and they're often in competition with one another.
Boy, ain't that the truth!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
You Communicate Passionately
You speak from the heart. You can't separate your feelings from what you're saying, even in a professional context.

You tend to speak dramatically, with lots of passion and emotion. It's easy for you to get swept up in what you're saying.

You like to connect with people early on so that you can personalize what you are saying to them.

When you converse, you try to find common ground and harmony. Even if you disagree with someone, you try to emphasize where you agree.
Pretty close....

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
You Are OMG
You're the type of person who's always shocked by the internet.

Whether it's crazy news or a wild picture, you're always saying "Oh my god"!

The only thing better than being shocked is shocking your friends. You're quite good at that too.

And while you still allow yourself to be shocked, you secretly love it. You enjoy drama and gossip.
OK, sorta not, eh?

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
You Are Vanilla
You are incredibly sexy and sensual - yet still sweet and innocent.

You have an exotic, mysterious vibe. You leave people wanting to know more.

You know how to make lovers relax, calm down, and be vulnerable.

You draw people in and make them addicted to you. You're a lot more potent than people think.
Yeah, whatever...I don't think so. However, I do like vanilla.

Breakfast
How do you usually celebrate Valentines Day? If you don't celebrate it where you live, how would you like to celebrate it?
We usually go out to dinner. I mostly just feel guilty because Beast always does a better job at gifting than I do.
Lunch
Chocolate or flowers?
Flowers. I'm not that big a fan of chocolate, but I'll take other candy.
Dinner
What is your most unique or fondest memory of Valentine's Day?
I don't really have any memories. Valentine's Day is not really that big a deal to me.
Midnight Snack
What would be your dream Valentine date?
See previous reply. I just want to have a quiet night, maybe dinner out...possibly a movie? I'm pretty low rent.
Recipe for the Week (instead of your recipe for life, what is it just for this week?)
Hang in there: spring is coming. I hope.

The "Get to Know Your Friends" Meme

1. What is your occupation right now? This very second, I would call my occupation Slugbutt Extraordinaire. However, for money I work as a public librarian.

2. What color are your socks right now? They seem to still be the same gray they began the day as.

3. What are you listening to right now? Keyboard keys tapping away, and strains of (probably) Green Day coming from Sparky's room, fairly quietly. I can hear Beast in the office periodically, too.

4. Last person you spoke to on the phone. Beast. He called while I was paying for groceries and asked me to get a printer cartridge. So I went and got one at Staples, and learned something interesting in the process about ink cartridges from the guy working. La.

5. How old are you today? 45

6. What is your favorite sport to watch on TV? Football.

7. What is your favorite drink? Long Island Iced Tea. Or diet Dr. Pepper.

8. Have you ever dyed your hair? I haven't ever done it myself. I hire People to do it for me.

9. Favorite food? That which someone else has cooked.

10. What is the last movie you watched? The end of E.T. the other night.

11. Favorite day of the year? That day in early spring where EVERYthing seems possible over the course of the next couple of months.

12. How do you vent anger? Loudly and (frequently) at the wrong target(s).

13. What was your favorite toy as a child? Depending on my age, it was Barbie, Skipper, the Dawn dolls, Snake, jacks, my brother's Matchbox cars, or my books.

14. Living arrangements? I live in a house I share with my husband and son on 1/3 acre in the upper midwest U.S. surrounded by a motley assortment of people I adore and people I want to move far away.

15. What was the last thing that you cried about? The death of MIL hit me hard this week.

16. Who is the friend you have had the longest? I'm still vaguely in contact with a couple of people I met in 1970.

17. What did you do last night? At dinner at Duke's--which was absolutely divine--came home, Twittered, Facebooked, took some Benadryl and crashed into bed.

18. What are you most afraid of? Failure.

19. In how many areas of your country have you lived? Primarily, two. But three states.

20. What is your favorite flower? Heirloom roses from the garden.

Saturday 6

1. Were you in the same location five years ago that you are today? Would you have expected to be?
Five years ago, we had only been living in this house for about four month. We had/have every intention of staying here for a LONG time, certainly until our kid graduated high school. Two more years till that happens. I don't foresee us moving in the next ten years, at least.
2. Are you driving the same car you drove five years ago? Were you driving the same car five years before that?
Yep on both. The truck is a 98, the car is a 99. They still, mostly, run fine, so why swap?
3. What percentage of the clothes in your closet are clothes you were wearing five years ago?
Probably about 1/3. I need to lose some weight so I can get back into another 1/3 of them! The rest are newer.
4. In what way is your life most improved over the last five years? In what way is it least improved over the last five years?
My son is 16--that's both a plus and a minus: I don't have to hover over him quite so much but he's getting to the point of being his own adult and that's sad for me sometimes. The house is more comfortable now, though I still adore it; there wasn't much improvement available there. We now have Beast's dad living nearby, and that is an improvement, though brought about by bad circumstances. I think it's about a wash.
5. Take the quiz: Do You Live in the Past, Present or Future?
When I did this 6 months ago, I was "Present." And I still am, ironically.
6. Consider the thing you most hoped for five years ago: has that come true, yet?
A-yup.

Saturday 9

(Link in blogroll)
Time Has Come Today

1. What time of day do you usually play Saturday 9?
Either in the morning, or later in the evening. Depends on whether I have to go to work; if so, it's gonna be later in the day that I have time to meme.
2. At 9AM on a weekday, what are you doing?
It depends on the day (lotsa 'depends' in my life--note the small 'd'!). On Mondays, I'm at Sparky's school. Tuesday through Thursday I'll be at work. Since I work every other Friday, I'd either be at work or lounging around the house in my jammies meming and catching up on things online.
3. At 9PM on any given night, what would you most like to be doing?
Home, vegging out and thinking about getting ready for bed, maybe watching something on TV. I would pretty definitively be online, though. ;-)
4. What is your most frequent activity online?
BubbleTown on Fb. I've just signed up for Twitter and it is now eating a lot of my time. And the ever-present blog-updating and -reading, of course.
5. Is there one day of the week that seems to fly by? If yes, why?
The Saturdays that I don't have to work seem to race by. Witness today: I had Big Plans for today that are not going to happen due to last-minute changes of schedule. That's fine, but it means I'll have to do my planned (and really necessary) stuff another time. Sometime.
6. Do you agree that the older you get, the faster time seems to go by?
Yes. When I was in high school someone tried to explain the "why" of this--all about the time we have left vs. the time we've lived, and the telescoping of our personal history--but it made no sense. Still doesn't for that matter. I just know that when I was 5 summers lasted quite literally forever, and now they're gone before I even warm up completely.
7. What is your favorite thing to do with free time?
In more-or-less order of interest (today): sleep, net-surf, read, crosswords...and some other stuff. ;-)
8. How much time do you spend alone? Would you like it to be more? Less?
I would
LOVE
more alone time. I actually love being alone. This is part of the reason I only wanted one kid. I probably spend an average of 1-2 hours a day alone (not counting the time driving to and from work). It's never enough.
9. If you could spend one hour doing something what would it be?
Oh, yeah, not sayin', yo. :-)

Four for Friday

(Link in blogroll)

Q1 - Hello and Goodbye: Do you wave at people on trains or boats as they pass by?
If they wave first, but generally, no. I think I did this more when it was rare for me to see trains with people on them. Now, I see them several times a week at least, so it's not a big deal anymore.
Q2 - Library Books: Do you think people who fail to return books to public libraries should face criminal charges?
One book, no. Otherwise, yes. It's called theft. [disclaimer: I work in a library, so I've heard all the excuses. ALL. of. them.]
Q3 - Acronyms: If each of the letters in your first name combined to form an acronym, what would your acronym be?
-C-ranky -A-nd -T-ired.
Q4 - Approval: According to a Gallup Poll conducted earlier this week, President Obama's approval rating is 65 percent, which is nearly identical as when he was inaugurated. Do you approve or disapprove of the job the President is doing?
I approve. I'd approve of anyone trying to reverse the most egregious of Bush's retardo-brained moves...Gitmo, torture, economic freefall, etc.

Things du Blog

You Are Mac and Cheese
When you are stressed out, you seek safety above everything else.

And nothing is more nourishing than a big warm plate of carbs.

Taking risks takes a toll on you, and you prefer your comfort food to be old fashioned.

You're the type of person who could eat the same meal every night, especially when life is hard.
I'm not really risk-averse, but I do like (homemade) mac-n-cheese.

+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + +
Your Energy Level is Low
Although you may have enough energy to survive, you probably wish you had more energy.

You feel tired throughout the day, and you wish you had the physical resources to do more.

You may just be a person with naturally low energy. Pushing yourself just makes things worse.

Make sure to eat well, avoid stress, and get plenty of rest. Taking care of yourself will make the most of the energy you've got.
Good advice, which I'm not all that likely to take.

You Are Warm
You are as patient, as outgoing, and as nice as you can be.

You understand people well, and you mostly enjoy being around them.

You are a naturally warm person, but you do have times when you're feeling a bit distant.

But even when you're feeling distant, you try to be empathetic. You always go the extra mile.
Zing! Right on.

You Were an Achieving Kid
When you were a kid, people often remarked on how mature you seemed. You acted quite adult.

You excelled at school, and you actually enjoyed it to a large extent. No one had to ask you to do your homework.

As a kid, you were probably a bit picky. You liked structure, schedules, and organization.

You had trouble being friends with regular kids.
You probably were only friends with other serious children.
Pretty close, though I wouldn't characterize my friends as serious for the most part.

You Are a Red Pen
You have an eagle eye for detail, and this often means you end up finding mistakes in people's work.

You may seem quick to criticize or correct, but you think accuracy and truth is important.

You like to be involved in every project. You feel like you put the polishing touch on things.

You would make a good editor, detective, or accountant. When facts matter, you're the person to call on.
Pretty accurate, except for the accounting part.

1. Please don't tell who I am.

2. Can you
do the rest of the laundry in the morning?

3. The color
pink makes me want to hurl!

4. I have a craving for
cherry pie.

5. If my life had a pause button, I'd pause it
at about 2 a.m. every morning .

6. Eyes are the
source of great angst to me in the wintertime .

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to
sitting around and waiting for Cam to show up for this last-minute sleepover, tomorrow my plans include laundry (see above) and scheduling the rest of the year for our youth group, and Sunday, I want to file all the stuff that I've been accumulating on my desk here at home!
