Shelly1. What's the best birthday present you've ever had?
I remember a great cowboy hat I got when I was around 14, at the height of the "Urban Cowboy" craze. Not that I've ever seen the movie. But I liked the hat, although I've lost it along my life's travels.
2. What do you eat for breakfast?
A toasted bagel with 'flat cheese' melted on it, carefully, in the toaster-oven.
3. What's your favourite piece of jewellery?
One single favorite? Uhm, I love my new ring. I like my Persian reversible necklace. The ring my mom gave me.... I buy LOTS of earrings, and have a pair I call my Toolbox Earrings that I like.
4. What's the best book you've ever read?
Oy. Can't. Too many. I even become nonverbal at the thought of limiting myself to ONE BOOK.
5. Which gadget couldn't you do without?
My sideways can opener.

7. Do you have any allergies?
In order of severity: cats, dogs, corn pollen, mold, grass. Trees I think too, but basically it's enough to say that August through October pretty much sucks for me.
8. Are you left or right handed?
Right.
9. Do you have any piercings?
One hole in each ear.
10. What's your favourite painting/print?
Too many again. I tend to like the Renaissance stuff...Boticelli, Leonardo...and Rembrandts. Representational stuff.
11. What was the last thing you ate?
Animal cookies. Do you know they're dying them now, so you can eat green horses and pink elephants?
12. Where in the world would you like to be right now?
On a Greek island. Or Ouray, CO.
13. Do you collect anything?
Crap. I collect a lot of crap, mostly of the paper variety. Pictures are big with me.
14. What type of books do you prefer reading ( e.g. romance )?
Mysteries have a mysterious (couldn't resist) ability to calm me down and make life go away. But I like lots of different kinds of books.
15. Do you have a daily newspaper? Which one?
I gave up the newspaper for Lent. I read the local weekly on Wednesdays. I need to get better about skimming the headlines in the nearest daily because I know I'm missing a lot of semi-important stuff in the area.
16. Do you use tissues or linen handkerchiefs?
Kleenex, with no lotion. And who wants to deal with washing snot? [my dad used handkerchiefs, and my mom ironed them.....way too much damn work for a snotrag]
17. What's your oldest possession?
I have the cards and the shower games played at the baby shower held for my mom when I was on the way.
18. Do you use a fountain pen or a ballpoint pen?
Fountain pens don't work for me. My current favorite pen is a Uni-ball Impact that someone left behind at the Reference Desk and I 'stole.' Normally I just use Bic Round-Stics because that's what the library buys.
19. Do you have any pets?
Two guinea pigs, to whom (so far) I'm not allergic. I am allergic to their food, though....
20. Do you have any phobias?
I never used to, although I've never liked crowds. I've also gotten a little claustrophobic in the past couple of years. It's more a darkness-closing-in thing: caves and small, crowded dark places. Maybe this is why I don't like Wal-Mart: everything is too crammed in and there's no place to turn around without running into things.
